When my wife and I bought our apartment in 2021, we were incredibly lucky. The market was wild, interest rates were low, and every listing that wasn’t snapped up in an hour needed a lot of… let’s call it “imagination.” Squeaky floors, drafty windows, poor heating, zero air flow, the works. We had a little help getting started, but knew that a new-build was wayyy out of reach for us, financially. So we cast a wider net and found a true fixer-upper, the kind of place that had “great bones,” “lots of potential,” and a few big projects waiting for us the day we closed.
2021年我和妻子买下这套公寓时，真是幸运极了。当时房市火爆，利率又低，所有没在一小时内被抢购一空的房子，都需要我们发挥大量的……姑且称之为“想象力”吧。吱吱作响的地板、漏风的窗户、糟糕的供暖、几乎不通风，各种问题层出不穷。虽然一开始有人帮我们，但我们也清楚，新建的房子对我们来说，在经济上是遥不可及的。所以我们扩大了搜索范围，找到了一套真正需要大修的房子，那种“底子好”、“潜力巨大”的房子，交房那天就得着手进行一些大工程。
